An ergonomic consultant helps people and companies by identifying ergonomic issues at workplace to prevent injuries. These experts, correct conditions or recommend changes to improve a person’s work environment or working conditions for the purpose of improving worker’s wellbeing.

Conducting on-site and remote interviews to gather information is a part of this specialist’s work. Collection of data is generally done to understand the corrective actions that can be suggested to a person. The corrective measures are suggested to ensure that the employees are working in a safe way. These experts also educate the employees the causes of repetitive stress injuries (RSIs) and musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).

An ergonomic consultant travels to different job sites to address and resolve issues experienced in employee’s work. Remote working involves on-line surveys, phone calls and review of video, photos or via an online source such as skype.

Some years back, getting hurt or injured by sitting continuously for a long time was considered as a joke. But now as more and more employees are getting exposed such injuries, employers are taking a serious note of it. They are consulting these experts to make their work place more users friendly. Few furniture companies have also launched ergonomic friendly chairs and tables to make the employees more comfortable.
